Julie Donnelly, LMT, is the Pain Relief Expert and Principle Therapist at Flexible Athlete. She has practiced as a Deep Muscle Massage Therapist since 1989, specializing in the treatment of chronic joint pain and sports injuries. Julie works extensively with elite, world-class, and endurance athletes, as well as non-athletic individuals who have been unsuccessful at finding relief through more conventional therapies.

She is licensed in Florida and New York, and has an active therapy practice in Sarasota and Venice, Florida. Julie also sees clients nationwide as she travels to teach physical therapists, massage therapists, fitness trainers, and groups of non-professional athletes.

Julie Donnelly is an internationally recognized expert specializing in the treatment of chronic low back, hip pain, and sciatica. Her expertise of the muscular component of muscle pain and how to treat the source of the problem has helped over a million people worldwide. Julie is the developer of the Julstro Method, a unique series of successful self-treatment techniques for the symptoms of repetitive strain injuries. Widely published, both online and in magazines, newsletters and newspapers around the country, Julie also speaks at national conventions, medical schools and health facilities nationwide.

Julie’s training began as a massage therapist, licensed in the State of New York where the initial requirement was 650 hours of classroom study in topics such as Anatomy & Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology of Muscles, Medical Massage, and Eastern Theory. She has spent hundreds of hours gaining an understanding as to why muscles cause pain that may be far removed from the actual source of the problem and why conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome exist.

Multiple personal injuries led Julie to develop her unique method of self-treatment techniques, which are collectively called the Julstro Method. Her work with endurance athletes, serious local athletes, and people who were suffering from a wide assortment of chronic joint pains, was the catalyst for her including the Julstro Method of self-treatments in her therapy program for her office clients This ultimately grew into a series of books, DVDs, and complete programs which can all be seen and purchased on her website: www.JulstroMethod.com.

Muscle spasms cause athletes to either get seriously injured or to be forced out of a sport they love. Her books and various DVDs, including Treat Yourself to Pain-Free Living, The Pain-Free Triathlete (currently being updated), The Pain-Free Runner, The 15 Minute Back Pain Solution, and The Secret to Your Best Golf Game EVER!, were already helping athletes to eliminate the spasms caused by repetitive strain injuries. However, Julie realized that athletes were still causing injury to their muscles by stretching without first eliminating the muscle spasms.

Her newest program, Focused Flexibility Training, combines the Julstro Method of self-treatment with proven Yoga stretches, enabling people to first release the knots that are holding them bound, and then safely stretch without tearing muscle fibers. Julie teaches Focused Flexibility Training for Athletes in clinics nationwide.

If you love your sport, you will definitely benefit by making an appointment with Julie. You will first be treated to find and release the muscles that are causing the pain, and then you will learn specific self-treatments you can do to stop pain fast, even during a long training day or race!

"Your deep treatments for muscular relief really do work! My back feels fine and the pain that I have had for months is gone. I am looking forward to getting back on the golf course. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!" Dave Groebel

"I just finished your class and wanted to tell you how much I learned about simple release techniques for myself as well as my clients. Doing your simple, effective techniques on myself during class alleviated stiffness in my quadriceps and lower back as well as shoulders neck and upper arms. I will be very confident sharing these simple techniques with my clients for their home care as well as using them in my practice. I am incorporating them into MY home care for sure. Thank you Julie, very much." Joanne Gore LMT (14 years).

“I spent hundreds of dollars and 6+ months trying to find a cure and explanation for “knee pain” that kept me from enjoying an active life. Numerous doctor visits (orthopedic surgeons, chiropractor, physical therapist, massage therapist) left me more confused and feeling no better. A friend recommended this book. I flipped through the pictures, found a few that matched my pain pattern, and did the self treatments. Within an hour of first opening the book I was pain free. Within a few weeks of regularly treating myself I was back cycling and doing all the things I love to do with confidence and without any pain. This book changed my life (and saved me from unnecessary surgery!).”  – Kristy H
